Thailand Floods - 2011
December 2011 flooding has become a disaster for Thailand as well as for travelers to Thailand. And the problem could last for weeks. The aftermath for months and years.
- Significant areas of Central Bangkok are flooded. Much of Greater Bangkok is under water as deep as 2 meters.
- The Chao Phaya River basin is flooded. Most of the ancient city of Ayuttaya flooded.
- Food and water are in short supply
- Local transportation is limited

2011 Floods Limit Hotel Rooms-Travel Options
- Some hotels and resorts are flooded. Others compromised by flooded access roads.
- Areas not flooded are packed with Bangkokians escaping floods
- Cha am, Hua Hin, Chon Buri, and Pattaya are packed. Moderately priced rooms, apartments may not be available for weeks
- Roads and railroads up-country have been damaged by floods
