Thailand Floods - 2011

2011 flooding has become a disaster for Thailand and for travelers to Thailand.

• Significant areas of Central Bangkok are flooded. Much of Greater Bangkok is under water as deep as 2 meters.
• The Chao Phaya River basin is flooded. Most of the ancient city of Ayuttaya flooded.
• Food and water are in short supply
• Local transportation is limited

2011 Floods Limit Hotel Rooms-Travel Options

• Some hotels and resorts are flooded. Others compromised by flooded access roads.
• Areas not flooded are packed with Bangkokians escaping floods
• Cha am, Hua Hin, Chon Buri, and Pattaya are packed. Moderately priced rooms, apartments may not be available for weeks
• Roads and railroads up-country have been damaged by floods
