Chiang Rai - Doi Tung

  Doi Tung

If you wind up in Chiang Rai during your visit to north Thailand then don't forget to visit Doi Tung. There are 3 places of interest to check out.

First up is the Queen Mother Commemorative Hall, which is like a museum that outlines the life and work of the current Thai King's mother.

A lady and true Princess who was (and still is) hugely respected bythe Thai people due to her many humanitarian/charity projects and boundless energy. (HRH died in94).

Mae Fah Luang Gardens makes a rather pleasant stroll amid all kinds of well-kept botanical wonders.

Within these grounds is the Doi Tung Royal Villa, which was where the King's mother stayed on her frequent visits to Chiang Rai.

It is now open to the public and makes for an interesting browse after the garden meander. The view from the northern terrace overlooking Burma is a fine feast for the eyes so don't forget the camera.
