This is a tough question because there are thousands of restaurants
and many of them offer fine food. Having said that, let’s plunge
right in and make some suggestions.
Thai Food
Baan Kanitha has some of the best Thai food
in the world. There are two locations -- one on Soi Ruamrudee (off
Ploenchit not
too far from the British and American embassies), and one on Sukhumvit
Soi 23.
The Mango Tree on Silom Road
and Sara Jane’s (Isaan and Italian food) with two locations
at Narathiwat Ratchanakarin Rd and Sinthorn Tower, Wireless Rd.
Lemongrass on Sukhumvit Soi 24.
On Sukhumvit Soi 23 you will
find Le Dalat which offers some of the tastiest Vietnamese food in
the City.
Indian Food: The Akbar on Sukhumvit Soi 3 and the India
Hut on Surawong
Road (opposite the Manohra Hotel) will not disappoint you.
Western Food: Bourbon Street serves authentic Cajun food as well
as Mexican dishes. They have two locations: Washington Square off
Soi 22, Sukhumvit Road and the Somerset Building, Soi Tonson, Ploenchit
Road.
The Bull’s Head is a British style pub located on Sukhumvit
Soi 33. The latter is located very near the Villa Supermarket which
has one of the best selections of western food in Thailand.
Vegetarian Food: The Whole Earth Restaurant offers vegetarian and
non-vegetarian food and can be found on Sukhumvit Road Soi 26 (Soi
Aree).
Located at the Chatuchak Weekend Market is Chamlong's Cafe.
While it is a basic outdoor restaurant, the food is great and the prices
low. It closes right after lunch at about 1 PM.
