The Grand Palace in Bangkok

Dusit Maha Prasat Palace - This is one of the 'must see' historical and cultural attractions in Bangkok.

Early in the Rattanakosin era, the Dusit Maha Prasat Palace served as an audience hall. Affairs of state were conducted and royal ceremonies were performed.

King Rama I built the palace in 1806 A.D. During the planning stage, the palace was to be as large as the Suriyat Amarin Palace of Ayutthaya.

Designs, techniques and materials of the newer era replaced the original workmanship initiated in the first reign.

And Dusit Maha Prasat Palace was constructed on the former site of the Indraphisek Palace which was burnt after an unfortunate lightning strike.

The original design of Dusit Maha Prasat Palace, which was renovated during the reign of King Rama III, was lost forever.

However, after a great deal of research, what is considered to be a faithful reproduction of the Temple of Rama I was built at @ Muang Boran.
