Ko Samui Attractions
Na Muang Falls
A short drive from Nathon Town will bring you to the first of a pair of waterfalls. The first cascade, which is almost 20 meters high, can be reached by car up an unpaved road.
The higher of the two is also the tallest at 80 meters. Reaching it requires a half hour walking climb. Take a picnic lunch and enjoy Samui's natural beauty.
Closer to town and has a series of cascades that form a large pool. Getting in to the falls requires a trek of 3 km. It's a jungle path so don't wear shorts. The pool is a cold and a refreshing pick-me-up after the trek.
Secret Buddha Garden
High in the hills of Samui, a dedicated individual has built several Buddha statues and temples over the past 20 years. The 2 hour trip is difficult and a 4 wheel drive vehicle is required.
Samui Aquarium and Tiger Zoo
The aquarium has several species of local fish including grouper and sharks. Tigers and leopards in cages if you like that sort of thing ... I don't. Last comes the animal acts. Shows feature hornbill, sea hawks, parrots and otters.
Na Tian Butterfly Garden
Butterfly garden has an excellent collection of exotic species. It makes an excellent family trip as hundreds of butterflies of every color and size float around you.
A bee hive gives you an inside look at the busy creatures.
Located at Taling Ngam has 2 shows per day at 11:00 and 14:00 respectively. Reptiles native to Ko Samui and other parts of Asia. Scorpion and centipede displays are okay, I guess ... but I could do without the cock fighting show.
Naga Pearl Farm
If you like pearls, you might want to see how they are cultured. Thai pearls have their own "look" and have become accepted internationally.
Samui's Ancient House
Wood crafters and wood lovers alike can enjoy the teakwood house at Ban Thale. Built about a century and a half ago without the use of nails, this oldest house on the island features excellent carving as well.
Samui Mountain View Point
Near to Wat Jang in Nathon, turn left at the intersection. Expansive views of coconut palms, Big Buddha Beach, Bophut Beach, Koh Samui Airport, and all the way to Koh Phangan. Elevation of about 500 meters.
Another view point is from a hill near the top of Khao Laem Yai, which is north of the Nathon's Gulf of Samui. It is east of Bang Po Beach. On days with good visibility you can see Koh Tao.
